After all this property reconstruction,
the city will also get a modern international airport where various aircrafts, even Airbus A-320 and Boeing B-737, will be able to land. A new terminal with a total area of over
20 thousand sq. m will increase the capacity of served passengers to
650 thousand people by
2011.
In accordance with
UEFA requirements, there will be office premises, waiting rooms for drivers, greeting places, etc in the airport building. There are plans for the reconstruction of the airport hotel and the development of new covered parking. It will also be possible to separate arriving fans if required.
Aims of the Project Implementation:
- Modernization of the air transport system of Kharkiv and other cities
- Compliance with UEFA requirements and the provision of European-class accommodation facilities for the guests of Euro 2012
- Increase of Kharkiv’s role in the European air passage system and proper fulfillment of its functions as a cross-border logistics centre
Current Stage of the Project:
- The new air terminal complex project has been approved by the Kharkiv Department of City Planning
- Work on the underground phase of the new terminal is approaching the end
