Production of Construction Materials
General Information
The Ukrainian Mineral Mining Company (UMMC) has consolidated the non-metallic assets of the DCH Group. The company manages 4 open pits and 5 deposits. UMMC is one of the leaders in the output of granite chip in Southern and Central Ukraine. The company employs about 800 people.
Production Capacity
The total output reserve amounts to 193.7 million tonnes of chip. The area of mining exceeds 405 hectares. The projected volume of output for 2008 is 3.6 million tonnes of chip and for 2011 – 17.9 million tonnes of chip.
Strategic Prospects
At the present time the granite chip market is highly fragmented and the consolidation process is just beginning. In the Ukraine there are about 120 producers of granite chip with a total market of some 400-520 million dollars. In addtion to the currently operating open pits there are many undeveloped deposits in the Ukraine which can be exploited provided that a relatively modest investment is made.
Kharkiv-Cement Company
General Information
DCH is conducting preparatory work aimed at establishing cement production in the Kharkiv Region. Licenses for the commercial development of the Kypiansky deposit of raw materials for cement production and the exploration and commercial development of the Savinskoye and Savinskoye-2 deposits of raw materials (chalk and limestone correspondingly) for cement production have already been obtained.
Production Capacity
The projected production capacity of this enterprise in the future is 2.0 - 2.4 million tonnes of cement a year.
Strategic Prospects
Since DCH implements a number of investment projects in the development sector, the availability of private capacities for production of construction materials is essential. The company will also supply its products on the open market, thus satisfying demand from construction companies.Back
