12.06.2010Designer gave wings to flight attendants

The legendary phrase of Michail Zhvanetskiy "I need to go to Paris, in urgent case " soon will become a reality for Kharkiv citizens. Six direct flights to Europe will open from the airport.

From the first capital one would be able to fly to Paris, Milan, Istanbul, Budapest and several German cities. Kharkiv citizens will be able to use the new flights immediately after the opening of the new terminal.
- I hope that residents of Kharkiv will now easily be able to fly to Paris to drink coffee or to Milan to dress and to comfortably come back, - said at the final press conference of the international forum Aeroforum.ua DCH president, Aleksandr Yaroslavskyy.
According to him, the construction of a new runway is going around the clock. Government consistently funds the building.

- Last year we received about UAH 50 million from the state - says Mr. Yaroslavskyy. - This year is has already been transferred UAH 80 million in June, the State will provide UAH 120 million for the construction of the runway. So everything should reach its logical conclusion - that is, the introducing of 2,5-kilometer runway. The total project cost will increase slightly to around UAH 1.3 billion.
Also bus station will be built at the airport territory. The customer of the construction is National Agency for the preparation for Euro 2012 in Ukraine. The project has just started to be developing, its place "dislocation" is not yet determined, but it should be within walking distance from the airport.
In addition, the Kharkiv airport received a new logo and uniforms for flight attendants. According to the logo author Dmitriy Titarenko, he wanted to miss the usual cliches and create a positive logo.
- It is very simple: a smile is hidden in the logo, because the consumer lacks positive, - he said.
Uniforms designed by the Kharkiv designer Kostiantyn Ponomarev, following the logo style.
- The task was unexpected, unusual and interesting. Most of all I was afraid that I would be required to do something conservative and formal. But it turned out that the airport just wanted informal approach - said the designer.
According to him, there were versions in hip-hop, breakdancing and even fantasy styles. However, as a result was chosen, more traditional, but not the classic version: fitted jacket and narrowed skirt. The suits` backs and blouses designer decorated with wings.
- Many people are afraid to fly, so I wanted to make a uniform that would allow people to relax and feel more comfortable in an airplane armchair - explains Kostiantyn. - I want people, remembering Kharkiv International Airport, to talk about girls with wings. The Airport itself is a giant bird, and its staff is chickens.
The designer also showed how, in his opinion, the uniforms will look like in fifty and a hundred years. In the first case the "chicks" of Kharkiv airport were dressed in oriental style, and the flight attendants in the XXII century were not alive, but a holographic, but still wearing a designer suit from Ponomarev.
